Cooker/Cooler Reel Flight End Section Reconditioning

  • All old flights are removed from the drive and idle rings and are discarded.
  • Flights (manufactured in our machine shop) are pulled from our extensive on-site inventory.
  • Our specially designed assembly fixture will maintain correct ring circumference, spacing, and flight location while the new flights are installed to the idle and drive rings.
  • The new idle ring is precision rolled and fixture welded to precisely match the shape of the drive ring.
  • A new drive ring will be provided if the existing ring is in unserviceable condition and should be replaced.
  • Following tack welding on the assembly fixture, the end section is transferred to the weld fixture faceplate where each individual component is clamped in place for final MIG welding.
  • The final operation is to metal finish edges to remove any weld spatter or burrs that could interfere with can travel.
